When session replay isn't enough
Session replay rebuilds the page from events, which is great for click sequences and weak for visual glitches. A flickering animation, a layout shift that only happens once or a canvas that renders wrong will not show up in a replay. A screen recording will.
Started by the reporter
Video is optional. The reporter starts the recording from the widget and stops it when they have shown the problem. Nothing records in the background and nothing is captured unless they choose to. It works in desktop browsers.
Use both
The session replay is attached to every report. Video is the complement for bugs that are inherently visual. Your coding agent still gets the element, errors and requests; the video is for the human who wants to see it.
